A few years ago, I took up abstract acrylic painting. I'm sure it will sound odd but my first painting that I did in early 2005 involved rocks, small pebbles sticking to the canvas. (See EJ #3.) Acrylics are great for their stickness. Since then, I've moved into oils where I'm trying to build up lots of layers of colors.
What I love about painting is the freedom to come up with whatever design, shape, colors, textures. It's a huge delight for me. Anything goes. And I'm finding all sorts of things to use from tissue paper to coffee grounds to nails. Granted my painting really is more about emotions than what real-life representation looks like. They don't really look like anything exactly, but the emotion poured into them is the whole point of the exercise for me :)
